The ADU boom runs through the sewer line
Idaho's new ADU law (SB 1354, effective July 2026) means every single-family lot in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls can add a unit by right — but the cities kept their sewer standards, and in Coeur d'Alene the ADU must tie into the property's one existing lateral. Before the building department signs off, somebody has to prove the line can carry the added load and show the contractor exactly where to tie in.
