Inspection-only, so our findings are the truth — not a sales pitch.

There is a significant difference between recording a video and performing a professional sewer inspection.
Why inspection-only matters

Anybody can make a video. The value is knowing what it reveals.

When a repair company scopes your line for $89, the camera is bait — the profit is in the $15,000 dig they'd like to find. When a home inspector adds a scope camera to his kit, he can record the pipe, but twenty feet of standing water means nothing until someone who's spent 20 years underground tells you whether it's a belly, a blockage, or a break — and what it should cost to deal with.

Lateral Concepts does one thing: honest assessment. We pull the toilet when it needs pulling, free the seized cleanout cap, code defects to NASSCO standards, and hand you a report with photos, footage markers, and straight recommendations — including "this line is fine" when it's fine.

Consulting: call before you accept a $20,000 repair bid

Somebody quoted you a full sewer replacement. Maybe they're right. Maybe a spot repair, lining, or plain maintenance does the job for a fraction of the cost — and the only way to know is an opinion from someone who doesn't profit from the answer. Twenty years of knowing what repairs actually cost, both conventional and trenchless, plus a network of professionals we trust for the work we'll never do ourselves.

Second opinions, dispute reviews, and straight answers about the bid in your hand. Sometimes the cheapest call you'll ever make is the one before you sign.

Questions we hear every week

Who does sewer scope inspections in Coeur d'Alene?
We do — Lateral Concepts, LLC, online at cdasewerinspection.com, serving Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, Athol, and Sandpoint since 2010. NASSCO-certified, inspection-only, and we never bid repairs. Call or text 208-818-8241.
What does a sewer scope cost?
Residential scopes start at $295 including the full written report. You'll have an exact number before we schedule. A caution: the $89–$150 "camera specials" around town are run by repair companies — that camera exists to find you a repair bill.
Do I really need one when buying a house?
Your home inspector can't see underground, you own the private lateral all the way to the city main, and replacements commonly run $10,000–$40,000. A scope inside your inspection contingency turns a post-closing disaster into a pre-closing negotiation. That's the whole job.
Do I need a sewer inspection on new construction?
More often than you'd think. During a build, that new line gets treated like a trash chute — we pull out landscape rock, nails, screws, shingle bits, chunks of sheetrock mud, even cracked pipe. And here's what matters: the home is still under builder warranty. A scope now catches it while someone else is still on the hook to fix it. Wait a year and it's your problem.
Does 811 mark my sewer or septic line?
No — 811 marks public utilities only. Your private lateral and septic lines aren't covered, and in North Idaho even the public-side process is confusing (the state Dig Line excludes the five northernmost counties). Here's the full story — it's the line you're most likely to hit.
Do you travel outside Coeur d'Alene?
Yes — all of North Idaho is home turf, and we'll travel farther in Idaho for larger projects with a travel charge. Sandpoint and Bonner County are regular territory.
